The process of custom golf club fitting St Louis is a must to every golfer enthusiast.  You will be learning about your swings and be informed on what your clubs can actually do for you. But an open-mind should be brought in during fitting, for you might be surprised that your swings are actually compatible with softer shafts or just the opposite.

Key Measurements

Your height, less your shoes, and the distance between your bent wrist and floor are two of the key measures to determine whether you will need a standard shaft length or custom-length ones. Surprisingly, your gender will determine the length and flex of the shaft you are highly to need.

Handicap and Swing Speed

You will be asked what club can you constantly hit 150 yards with as well as your index. The measure of your swing speed will determine the type of flex your shaft shall need. There should be a device available to determine your swing speed. You will be asked to take 25 or more shots to measure your wing speed and tendencies.

Flex

The right flex will allow you to have the right control of your club. That is why, determining the right flex for you is critical. Here is the matrix of the flexes with corresponding swing speeds

            Flex                 Swing Speed

            Extra Stiff (X)  100+ mph

            Stiff (S)                        90-100 mph

            Regular (R)     80-90 mph

            Senior (A)       70-80 mph

            Ladies (L)        below 70 mph

Club Weight

The determining of the club weight is as critical as well. When a golfer has a faster swing, he may opt for a heavier club to slow the swing speed a little bit and gain better control of the swing.  On the contrary, he who has a slower swing may opt for lighter clubs to add mobility to the swing.

Loft and Lie

This particular adjustment is more complex that it may not be a part of a non-extensive fitting session. The loft and lie adjustments is only applicable on irons and would require the clubs to be bent or particularly engineered.

Grips

Clubs come with standard grips but you can select your own grip during fitting session. Basically you will select a grip that you will be most comfortable with. Grips may be made of leather or synthetic materials or the combination of both. For as long as you will have better feel and traction or control, it is a go.

When you are being fit for new golf clubs, please use the services of a PGA golf professional that gives golf instruction, preferably video golf instruction and has been doing it for a long time.
